The NEW Raptor G2 by Santa Cruz Kayaks
Santa Cruz is privileged to introduce this totally new kayak design. The only kayak that can switch from a great paddle kayak to a top of the line pedal boat. The Raptor G2 is faster than the previous version. With a 420 lb weight capacity this kayak can handle a load in it's pick up truck style cargo bed. Designed by Jim Martin , an incredibly smart and handsome man. He is sure to please....opps, I mean the kayak... -

Paddling the Santa Cruz Raptor in sloppy surf
I finally took the Raptor into some nasty surf to see how well it handles the conditions. I'm impressed! The design punches through waves, drains very quickly, and keeps momentum while paddling out. On the way in I tried several styles of re-entry and it can do whatever you ask it to. The design lends itself to surfing through the breakers, and in this kayak there is enough stability to allow it. -
DIY Modified Santa Cruz Raptor Kayak Demo
This is a demonstration of my DIY modified Santa Cruz Raptor Kayak maneuverability. It is powered by a Minn Kota Endura C2 30 lb thrust trolling motor with a Kipawa prop. It uses foot pedals and cables as the steering control. -
The Santa Cruz Raptor Rocks in the Surf!
Weather forecasts were, shall we say, "incorrect" this weekend. Running the surf was fun, but the weather offshore got progressively worse all day. I ended up stowing the cameras and rods for the run back to shore, fearing that the six foot weas would break hard. I ended up making it back fine, but from half a mile out it was really nasty. The Texas coast has a gradual beach dropoff, so the surf zone extends out for hundreds of yards on a sloppy day. The Raptor's slim front end and wide back end gave me the stability and wave performance that made an ugly day more fun than it probably should have been. I love this kayak!
