Not all at one time of course. LOL
Anyway, I have a rack system for my car but, I was using ratchet straps to secure my boards for my two hour trips to the beach.
Finally, after getting tired of fighting with the ratchet straps, and worrying if someone would steal my boards I started researching SUP/Surf board rack systems. I came across Yakima Ripcord locking straps.
I decided to give it a go and these straps are so much easier/faster to use. I love the fact that there is a metal cord sewn into the strap so, if some knuckle head tries to steal the boards they'll have to work for it!
Also, you have the additional security of a key locking system so that adds another layer of security.
I've driven at speeds of 75MPH with two boards and, no shifting or wobbling. I have been using them for about two months now and I love'em. The straps are easy to use also, took a few minutes off from strapping the boars down.
If you already have a rack system for your car/truck don't waste your money on SUP/Surf board rack system!
Now when I go out I'm not stressing about my boards being stolen, or running to check on my car every 5 mins.
I've taken many road trips with my 10'6" SUP strapped to my roof using these. I normally averaged speeds around 75-80+/- a few and the board never moved. I would pull over occasionally to check the straps and they never seemed to need any adjustment or tightening. Another good thing, is they are easy to coil them up when not in use, so you can keep the mesh pouch they came in and just store them in there. I've owned a few other pairs of straps and they seem to always turn into a rats nest in the trunk.
I did contact Yakima prior to purchasing these about them being "cut proof" and this was their response:
[
Hello Chris,
Thank you for contacting Yakima Customer Support.
The ripcords are cut proof in that someone with a pocket knife, utility knife or good scissors cannot cut them, but someone with a larger pair of diagonal cutters or linesman pliers will be able cut them with enough time and determination. Our aim with our security features are to keep honest people honest and prevent thefts of opportunity. I checked with our Warranty folks, and I can tell you that in the year or so we have been selling the Ripcord, we have not heard of any incidents where the cable was cut. The best way for you to make your final decision will be to visit a local dealer that sells these products and check them out for yourself.
Thank you for your inquiry!

As far as I know, no one has tried to steal any of my kayaks. I suspect that if someone does, the cable down the center of the strap will frustrate the attempt.
I always use the regular web straps to attach the boats to the racks and then use these when I’m leaving the vehicle alone.
I think these are a little stiff to use as substitutes for regular straps. After everything is locked down and you have several feet of strap left it’s difficult wind it up and tuck it somewhere so it doesn’t flap in the breeze.
